May 14, 2011--News Release: Despite some disc dog drama, Cowboy narrowly wins 1st Place in Intermediate Freestyle at The Woodlands UFO Event
Cowboy the gold and white disc chasing Border Collie collected a gold medal to match his fur color while competing at the UFO disc dog intermediate competition in The Woodlands, Texas on May 14, 2011. Cowboy narrowly edged out the competition during the freestyle disc dog event at the Houston Canine Frisbee Disc Club’s annual UFO Major. Despite facing some heavy competition from out of state Border Collies, Cowboy took 1st place in the intermediate division freestyle event and collected his 1st gold medal. The win came despite a dog from the crowd attempting to crash the action by charging the field as Cowboy started his routine.
Cowboy will compete again on June 25-26, 2011 at the Arkansas State Championship to be held in Bentonville, Arkansas. The Arkansas event is not affiliated with the UFO series.
"We had a lot of fun up in The Woodlands and can't wait to compete in the 'pro' division of the UFO in the future," said Marc, the human half of team Cowboy. "Cowboy loves freestyle and this was a great opportunity for us to put our skills to a test in front of a crowd," Marc added.
